You'll need a 3d model to print. We developed the layout ourselves, but you can find a lot of ready-made works on the Internet.

After we have selected the model to print and the 3d printer has finished printing, we proceed to the next step.

Too large hornswill not fit on the printing table, so it will need to be divided into parts and glued together. Our horns didn't need to be glued together. Immediately after printing, we attach the horns to the metal rim. The rim is heated and pressed into the plastic, after which we mask the entrance place. After that, the rim can no longer be disconnected from the horn.

We take sandpaper and erase all traces of joints and irregularities. This is a very slow process, the more time you spend processing the product, the better. At the end, the product is covered with a primer. We use different types of primers for different products, mainly acrylic. There are no comrades for taste and color here, so choose which one you like best.

You can use any paints. We use acrylic paints, we paint through an airbrush, because with its help you can create beautiful color transitions. Acrylic paints can be used by any company, they can also be painted manually (this is how we painted our first products).

Pay special attention to the places where you need to apply shadows (make a darkening). After painting, the product is covered with a special varnish. We use acrylic varnish.

It is believed that on this day the deceased are allowed to visit their relatives, so candles light the way to the house so that the soul does not get lost.

There are also traditional recipes that are cooked for the holiday, for example, bread of the dead: round loaves with strips of dough on top, imitating bones.

These days there is a carnival, where masks and other symbols and images of Calavera Catrina are used.

On the days of veneration of the dead, it is customary to have fun and rejoice at the return of the dead. The holiday is celebrated for two days: one day is devoted to commemorating the souls of deceased children and infants, on November 2 adults are commemorated.

This holiday dates back to the time of the ancient Aztecs, and was a ritual associated with the veneration of the deceased, which was held 2500-3000 years ago. At that time, people really kept the skulls of deceased relatives in their homes as a family heirloom. During the festival, the Aztecs revered the goddess of death - Mictecacihuatl.

We have already mentioned Calavera Catrina, whose image is widely used today during the holiday, as well as the Aztec goddess Mictecacihuatl. There is also Santa Muerte or a White girl.

Of course, there is a connection between them, but they exist separately from each other.

The goddess Mictlanciuetal, who initiated the ancient cult, the wife of the lord of the underworld (Mictlana) Mictlantecuhtli. His constant companions were a bat, a spider and an owl. In the culture of the ancient Aztecs, owls were considered harbingers of death, many signs were associated with them.

Mictlanciuetal was depicted with a skull instead of a head in a skirt made of rattlesnakes.

The veneration of the dead was very important in the life of the ancient Aztecs. The Aztecs believed that death was not the end, but a transition to a new state, and treated it as an important part of the life cycle, so with the advent of Catholicism, Santa Muerte took the role of Mictlanciuetal.

Her cult originated in the 17th century is a mixture of Aztec mythology and Catholicism. Interestingly, the cult is widespread today, the number of its adherents is growing. Santa Muerte is depicted as a skeleton in a robe with a covered head. Wendigo is an evil spirit that devours people in the mythology of Algonquian tribes (specifically the Cree people; in their language, it means "the evil that devours"). It gained widespread fame after the publication of Stephen King's book "Pet Sematary."

Nowadays, the image of the Wendigo is often used in movies, comics, video games, cartoons, etc.

According to legend, after a person becomes a cannibal, an evil spirit enters them, and they transform into a Wendigo.

But this is not the only version of the Wendigo's origin; there are several legends:

• There is a legend that Wendigos are sorcerers who became overly immersed in black magic.
• The Wendigo can possess people who fall asleep or get lost in the forest.

In appearance, it is somewhat similar to a human; it has an elongated silhouette, but its face is monstrous: instead of a mouth, there is a black hole with sharp teeth, and its eyes are small and black. This creature is extremely thin, twice as tall as a human. Sometimes it is described as shaggy, sometimes as bald, draped in matted white fur. The Wendigo's hunger is insatiable; it constantly needs new victims. It feeds exclusively on humans.

The Wendigo is a skilled and cunning hunter. Besides high intelligence, it possesses supernatural powers. It can move completely silently while stalking its prey, and it possesses incredible hearing, sight, and smell, able to sense its victim from miles away. Furthermore, the Wendigo can mimic the sounds of nature, voices, and music to lure people into a trap. It is an excellent camouflager and runs very fast, leaving its victim without a chance.

One can defend against a Wendigo using fire and shamanic amulets. Killing a Wendigo is no easy task. One must arm oneself with a silver-bladed weapon and silver bullets. The Wendigo can only be wounded with such weapons. Next, its heart must be pierced with a silver stake, its body broken into pieces, and hidden in a shrine or on sacred ground. Its body must be dismembered, sprinkled with salt, burned, and the ashes scattered to the wind.

Most often, the Wendigo is depicted as an undead creature, with or without antlers.

A Cabinet of Curiosities (also known as a Wunderkammer) is a room or a piece of furniture used to store collections of natural history specimens, ancient artifacts, antiques, and simply rare exhibits.

Cabinets of curiosities appeared in Europe at the end of the 16th century, with their peak during the Baroque period in the 17th century. Many wealthy people amassed collections of rarities. These valuable collections required appropriate furniture. Special cabinets with a large number of drawers and shelves were created specifically for them. The larger the collection grew, the larger the size of the cabinets, or "cabinets of curiosities," became. Later, the name of the furniture piece also came to be used as the name for the room housing the collections.

The cabinets themselves, whose main function was to house valuable rarities, very quickly turned into objects of art. Craftsmen competed in the beauty of their design, adding increasingly intricate details and decorations. Today, many of these cabinets of curiosities are themselves valuable antiques.

While scientists might have been attracted to collections of anatomical anomalies and marvels, artists preferred works of art from different eras and countries. Even the cabinets of curiosities themselves became subjects of paintings. They were depicted by artists such as Frans Francken the Younger, Philippe de La Hire, Jan Brueghel the Elder, Johann Georg Hainz, Étienne de La Hire, and others.

But the catch is that to create items with a 3D printer, it's not enough to simply buy a printer; you need to master 3D modeling. Here at our workshop we have practiced a lot and can now print items of any size and shape.

So-called unusual orders are actually quite ordinary for us. Let us tell you about how we assembled a costume for an obscure character from an old computer game, Gore-Esh. This hero is the leader of the Bre'unor savage tribe, and also controls grey wolves, Changlings (animated dead trees), and shamans, and he is also supposedly the son of the Bre'unor god. The game where these events take place is called "Myth," the first part of which was released back in '97.

Heard anything about this character? We hadn't either, but we took on the task anyway. We started by creating a 3D model of the character's mask.

We printed the blank, then processed and painted it by hand. The mask has a secure fastening at the back that adjusts to fit the size of the head. The horns on the mask are removable using a dovetail joint system, so the owner doesn't have to worry about the horns breaking off during transport.

Next, we started modeling the jawbones that attach to the shoulders. We adjusted and modified them together with the customer. We printed them, processed them, and painted them with an airbrush.

For the jawbones, we bought special straps with buckles for attachment to match the canon as closely as possible.

The customer was happy with the result and decided to add to the order. A large chest bone and bracelets made of teeth were added.

First, we crafted the bone and ordered a belt and buckle for it.

Next, we made the teeth. We used the models from the shoulder-jaw pieces for the teeth. We made them in different sizes and modeled a hole in each for a lace. The lace is also leather.

The large chest bone was also attached to a thick belt.

Finally, the customer asked for another bracelet with teeth, this time for the leg. We handled that quickly and sent the finished costume to its owner.

A Tiefling is a character race from the worlds of Dungeons & Dragons. They are humans with a small trace of demonic blood.

Each Tiefling is unique and differs from others, depending on their origin. They can have various features, such as hooves instead of feet, a tail, red eyes, horns, or a permanent smell of ash. Tieflings often prefer solitude and are rejected by others because of their appearance. They quickly learn not to trust anyone. However, sometimes you can find communities where Tieflings are the majority.

Tieflings are descendants of humans from the empire of Bael Turath, which was known for the nobility's greed for power and achieved great might. The heads of noble families and many nobles of lower rank made pacts with evil forces, which changed not only themselves but all of their descendants as well.

However, in the fourth edition of the D&D game, Tieflings became one of the eight core playable races. Their appearance also changed: all Tieflings have horns and long, reptilian tails. Tieflings' teeth are pointed, and their eyes have no whites or pupils; they are uniformly red, black, white, silver, or gold. Tiefling skin is typically reddish.

In the fifth edition, Tieflings are no longer social outcasts; they wear city-dwellers' clothing and even lead quite peaceful lives.

A new version of the rules, codenamed D&D One, is announced for 2024. The infernal image of the Tiefling is fading into the background; they are increasingly resembling humans. It doesn't choke, doesn't press, and doesn't slip.

Here we'll tell you about how we learned to make comfortable masks for wearing.

All our masks feature a triple attachment system.

It sounds simple, but we spent a very long time refining it, figuring out exactly how it should look. And we finally found the version that we now use on practically all masks.

At the top of our attachment system, there is a sturdy strap (the kind that won't fray into threads). An elastic band of the same width is attached to the side.

At the connection point on our masks, we don't use a ring, as many others do, but a special part that we print on our 3D printer. All of this makes the fastening truly high-quality and durable.

Some masks, like the Cyber Cat mask, and practically all helmet-masks, need to be specially adjusted to fit well on the head. That's why we often use foam padding to prevent the mask from sliding down over the eyes or wobbling.

On large masks, such as the Wendigo mask, there can be additional pressure points on the head. We line these areas with soft, natural leather, which won't cause allergies and feels pleasant against the face.

Sometimes we encounter masks with poor ventilation, meaning that if left as is, it would be hot and difficult to breathe inside.

In such cases, we add extra holes in places where they can be concealed. For example, in the Pig mask, we made such holes under the cap.

Since this mask was made for a DJ, and also just to improve hearing, we added even more holes directly in the ears. We also made openings in the eyes and mouth – places where they look natural.

For some large masks, we have to devise additional fastening systems.

For instance, for our largest mask – the Tyrannosaurus mask – we print a special chin rest. The thing is, this mask has more straps and elastics, and when you put it on, one of them tightens under the chin.

The chin rest is padded with leather and prevents the elastic from slipping off or pressing too hard. You can talk without worrying that the elastic will slide somewhere.

We make masks based on individual sketches, refine some, and after producing a mask, we figure out the best way to further improve it for comfortable and secure wear.

We have extensive experience working with masks and various materials. We will craft a comfortable mask for you, and you won't need to think about how to make it more comfortable to wear.

But we always take your wishes into account.

Sometimes we receive orders for masks with, for example, poor visibility (as was the case with the Pig mask).

We'll tell you a bit more about this process.

Working with primer is fundamental. The primer needs to be quite thick. We apply it to the seams. After it dries, we use sandpaper. Then, we create the texture using the primer. It's easiest to work with horns — we apply the primer in a linear fashion, straight, for example, if they are deer or elk antlers. But for a ram's horns, for instance, we apply it in a circular motion. The texture turns out quite subtle.

These lines can be made deeper by applying more primer. How the primer applies can even depend on the brush used. After drying, we go over it with sandpaper again until the texture is perfected.

We use a different method for priming skulls, although there are a few skulls and masks that we prime linearly, such as the Moriarty mask (this hides the print lines). But generally, on skulls, we use another method that creates a pore effect. To achieve this, we sort of stipple the primer with the brush. This technique also helps to conceal print lines well.

This method is more difficult than the first one, and the result heavily depends on the consistency of the primer.

For some masks, we need to ensure that the primer isn't visible at all — and this is the most challenging part. The thing is, after priming, you have to go over it with sandpaper quite aggressively several times, check for any remaining marks, and then prime again to hide scratches and create an ultra-smooth surface. This is the case, for example, with the Cyber Cat mask.

There are printers and materials that can create a perfectly smooth surface:

There are printers that print very smoothly using liquid resin, but this material is not suitable for masks as it is very brittle.

There is also cast plastic; this material is also smooth, but this material is not suitable for our workshop as we use a different manufacturing method.

That's how it was with the Dead Reaper mask. The client came to us with the idea back in March. In August, we started bringing the idea to life. The character was the client's concept, and we adjusted the skull model based on their vision.

During the work process, additional orders were added to the mask. After a series of corrections and refinements, the mask was finished and sent off to its owner along with the other items.

This was an exclusive, one-of-a-kind order, so we cannot recreate it exactly... but we can create a similar mask based on a modified 3D model.

• Impregnating with Fiberglass: Cut the fiberglass into pieces, apply epoxy resin in overlapping layers (2-3 layers).
• Drying: Leave for 24 hours in a well-ventilated area (must wear a respirator!).
• Sanding and Correcting Defects: Sand down any unevenness, fill voids with putty or epoxy.
• Attachment and Painting: Create a base for attachment (e.g., from several layers of fiberglass), then paint with aerosol primer and acrylics.

Pros:

• High strength.
• Possibility of creating complex shapes.

Cons:

• Toxicity of materials (requires working in a respirator and ventilated area).
• Lengthy process (drying takes up to 24 hours).
• Limited forms (need to find or make molds).
• Heavy weight (if the horns are large).

1.2. Ready-Made Molds from Aliexpress

If you want smooth and symmetrical horns without complex processing, you can use silicone molds.

Brief instructions:

• Material Preparation: Epoxy resin (or polyurethane plastic for lightness), silicone mold (can be bought on Aliexpress or made yourself), release agent (to easily remove the horns), pigments (if colored plastic is desired).
• Pouring into the Mold: Treat the mold with release agent. Mix the resin with hardener (according to the manufacturer's instructions). Add dye if necessary. Carefully pour into the mold, avoiding bubbles (can use a vacuum chamber or gently warm with a hairdryer).
